Fraunhofer Chemistry Alliance at ACHEMA 2024

For the second time, the Fraunhofer Chemistry Alliance had a large joint stand at the world's leading trade fair for the process industry.

From 10-14 June 2024, the Fraunhofer Chemistry booth D49 in Research Hall 6.0 was the place to be. There was plenty to discover and try out, as well as the opportunity to engage in technical discussions with the right contacts.

The numerous exhibits were presented according to the focus topics

  • Green Chemistry
  • Digitization
  • Circular economy
  • Safety
  • Scale-up
  • Efficiency

These ranged from IT tools such as Green Metrics made by Fraunhofer, to real bio-based products made from waste or wastewater, to demonstrating energy and resource-efficient chemical reactions.

Another important and recurring element was the conclusion of the Fraunhofer lead project ShaPID. The results of the application-oriented preliminary developments, which are aimed at further strengthening and establishing green chemical processes, were presented in exhibits on the various sub-projects.

The PFAS issue and the impending ban were also hot topics at the Fraunhofer stand at Achema. Many visitors sought advice and expertise on alternatives from Fraunhofer colleagues on site.

The stand also hosted a special show on hydrogen, where the Fraunhofer Hydrogen Network presented a selection of exhibits and topics, including electrocatalysis, sensor particles for detecting hydrogen, and PEC modules for the self-sufficient production of hydrogen from sunlight and water.
